Dissatisfaction guaranteed

A warning for anyone who gets a call from a company called BT Customerstreet - put the phone down pronto. My colleague was hoodwinked and pressure sold into 'signing up' for a supposed service with BT Customerstreet - he was cold called and kept on the phone for over half an hour - and he thought he was ageeing to pay just for a month of their website advertising service for a cost of £60 - and that he could cancel after the first month. He did this when I was away on holiday. On my return I found the email sent by this complete bunch of swindlers.  In this email I discovered that he had 'signed up' to a 'contract' which would cost us £1338 in the first year - for a service which is nothing more than a build it yourself web page and a promise to get you on the first page of google if the right words are typed in.  When I studied all the paperwork sent and went on line to get the full terms and conditions, I discovered that these made it impossible to cancel the contract in the first year - except if you wrote to them within 5 working days - and of course by the time I had returned from holiday and looked at the email the 5 days was long past.  The pressure selling of this 'product' and the dreadful terms and conditions of the contract prompted me to search online to see what I could find out about this company and surprise, surprise we are not alone in our disgust with their product and their sales methods - check out  this complaints website.
Why BT allow their name to be associated with this totally fraudulent operation is a mystery.  Having tried to cancel the 'contract' I have been met by denials of mis-selling - they claim that the sales person explained everything several times during the long phone call - but guess what, they have refused to send us a copy of the recording of the phone call.  They have point blank refused to refund the money taken from the credit card and refused to cancel the contract.
From the number of complaints on the web about this company they are clearly making a fortune out of unsuspecting businesses.
